Adelaide v Collingwood
(Adelaide Oval, 7.50pm AEST, Friday, April 13, 2018)
Watch the feathers fly between Crows and Magpies in this Black Friday battle and we suspect it will be quite a tussle. Collingwood has been underrated so far this season and, rightly so. They put in a howler of a performance in Round 1, followed by an improved performance against Greater Western Sydney, but we were still expecting them to be defeated by Carlton last weekend.
Well, we all have egg on our faces now, and haven’t had time to wash it off. Carlton was spanked, Collingwood had the last laugh, and quite loudly. But Carlton wasn’t much chop, and Adelaide will provide tougher resistance. After stumbling against Essendon in Round 1, Adelaide has steadied their season with a victory over the ‘real deal’ Richmond team (also known as the 2017-premiers-for-the-first-time-since-1980), followed up by swatting away a disinterested St Kilda team last weekend.

Jordan De Goey makes a return to the Collingwood team, but we don’t think he’ll be able to push his team over the line. Adelaide have too many tall timbers and the allure of Adelaide Oval makes it a difficult arena for other teams to claim victory – although Brisbane almost upset Port Adelaide last weekend, so perhaps it’s not as difficult as we like to think.
But it will be difficult for Collingwood. We say if Richmond can’t defeat Adelaide at their home ground, then Collingwood won’t either. That’s our highly sophisticated analysis. It will be a great game though.
