AFLW 2018: Round 5 Results

Round 5 AFLW

Another excellent round of AFLW – Round 5, which means there are only two more rounds to go, before the Grand Final. It’s a very weird format – blink and you might miss it, or if your team loses a couple of close games, it’s totally out of contention.

Western Bulldogs seem like the team to beat at this stage, or at least the team most likely to make it to the Grand Final, and they played a close match against Collingwood, winning by 8 points.

Greater Western Sydney have started hitting some form, easily defeating Fremantle by 18 points – it’s actually odd to say that an 18 point win is an easy win, but that’s how it is in AFLW. Perhaps matches matches will last longer in the 2019 season? Melbourne held on against Brisbane but, to be honest, they were always in control of this match, before winning by 6 points. Carlton were humiliated for the second week in a row, this time going down to Adelaide by 35 points, in a match they never seemed to be in.

Unfortunately, it’s only the top two teams that play off in the final (which is also the Grand Final) but, it’s looking good for Western Bulldogs v Brisbane in the decider, or Western Bulldogs v Melbourne. Greater Western Sydney or Adelaide are also in with a chance, but it’s only a small chance.
